  • New Year, New Visitor

    We had a new visitor to the Garden Studio here at the House of Zen.
    This little guy has a lot of red highlights and is considerably smaller than the other Eastern Grey Squirrels around the Studio.

  • Studio update December 30, 2022

    Downy Woodpecker
    I’m constantly updating and making improvements to the garden studio.
    The more natural I can make it appear to wildlife, the more wildlife I can attract.
    This Downy Woodpecker is a frequent visitor to the Garden.

    As this will likely be the last update before the new year, I want to wish you all a very Happy New Year!

  • No more pumpkins

    The pumpkins have left the Garden Studio. Taken out by Raccoons.
    So, I made some modifications to the studio and so we go forward.

    It takes more work than is evident to position perches just right so the birds are comfortable landing on them, but it’s a lot of fun.
    And the end result is I’m able to get some shots I might now otherwise get.
    The pumpkins are gone, but the studio lives on.

    So since the poop-storm over at Twitter, I’ve decided to give Mastodon a try.

  • More fun

    At this point, I’m just trying to see how long I can keep the Garden Studio going.
    How long can I keep attacking birds and squirrels to a pumpkin full of bird seeds?
    More importantly, how can I keep shaking things up to keep them fresh?

  • Garden Studio

    So, we got some snow yesterday and through the night.
    Not a whole lot, but enough to spruce up the Garden Studio.
    The birds and squirrels seem to be loving it.
