Welcome to DeBardeleben Photography
For as long as I can remember, the natural world has been my compass—a place where light, weather, and wildlife converge to reveal a quieter, more enduring beauty beyond the distractions of everyday life. After more than twenty-five years as a professional photographer, I am proud to bring that lifelong pursuit into a new chapter with DeBardeleben Photography.
This work is more than a collection of images. It is an ongoing exploration of landscapes, wildlife, and wild places that continue to shape how I see the world, paired with a deep respect for the conservation of the environments that make those moments possible. Every photograph begins in the field—on a winding trail, along the edge of a still lake, or deep within the woods—where patience, observation, and respect for the land guide the process long before the shutter is released.
My path here has been shaped by diverse experiences. Born in Germany and raised in the United States, I later spent more than a decade serving in the U.S. Army. That time instilled discipline, resilience, and a profound appreciation for the land itself—principles that remain central to my approach to photography. Whether hiking, camping, or exploring unfamiliar terrain, I am always attentive to the stories nature reveals when given the time and space to speak.
DeBardeleben Photography is also built on partnership. My wife of twenty-five years, Colleen, is an essential part of this endeavor, managing the work behind the scenes that allows the creative process to thrive. Her support enables me to remain focused on the fieldwork, the craft, and the fleeting moments that unfold outdoors.

As this space continues to evolve, I will be sharing new photographs, field notes, travel experiences, and updates from the places that inspire my work. I hope that these images encourage you to slow down, look more closely, and reconnect with the wild spaces that continue to shape our world.
Thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey. I look forward to sharing the road ahead.
